Fabricate two putty indices to use as reduction guides

Fabricate putty

Mix half a scoop of base with half a scoop of accelerator
Knead until the color is uniform and all streaks have disappeared
Adapt the putty to cover the labial and lingual surface of the tooth as well as the corresponding surfaces of at least one adjacent tooth
Allow the putty to polymerize for approximately 2 minutes (or according to the manufacturer’s instructions)
Remove the putty and section the indices

Facial-lingual reduction guide

Cut the index in half facio-lingually (sagittally) across #9
Place the left index on the teeth to check fit, repeat for the right index

Inciso-cervical reduction guide

Cut along the incisal edge to separate the index into a labial and lingual half
Place the lingual index on the teeth to check fit, repeat for labial index

Clinical Note: The putty should be made from preoperative wax-up on the diagnostic cast if the tooth is badly broken down or the contours of the final restoration will be changed in the definitive restoration
