PLEASE REVIEW THIS PRIVACY POLICY CAREFULLY. BY USING MY DENTAL KEY (AS DEFINED BELOW), YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU ACCEPT THE PRIVACY POLICIES AND PRACTICES SET FORTH HEREIN. IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT SUCH POLICIES AND PRACTICES, YOU MUST EXIT MY DENTAL KEY IMMEDIATELY.

This Privacy Policy is incorporated by reference into the My Dental Key Terms of Use. The term “​My Dental Key​,” “w​e,​ ” and “​us”​ includes My Dental Key and our affiliates and subsidiaries. The Privacy Policy explains how My Dental Key may:

  • collect
  • use, and
  • disclose

information we obtain through “My Dental Key.”

“M​y Dental Key​” means any website, mobile application, or Internet service under My Dental Key’s control, whether partial or otherwise, in connection with providing the services provided by MyDentalKey, including mydentalkey.com, mydentalkey.org, mydentalkey.net, and dentalkey.org.

“P​ersonal Information​”means information that alone or when in combination with other information may be used to readily identify, contact, or locate you, such as: name, address, email address, or phone number, as well as payment information. We do not consider Personal Information to include information that has been anonymized so that it does not allow a third party to easily identify a specific individual. We collect, retain and process Personal Information about Users (as defined below) in order to provide My Dental Key and for the other purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

“U​ser​” means a person who uses services offered by My Dental Key. Users may be students who purchase and use My Dental Key directly, or who have been provided access to My Dental Key by one of our University Customers (as defined below).

“University Customer​” means a customer who is an educational institution or universities and who purchase and use services offered by My Dental Key.We have included several annotations in boxes to help explain or identify key sections. These annotations are for convenience only and have no legal or contractual effect.

MY DENTAL KEY COLLECTS YOUR INFORMATION

We collect Personal Information when you:

  • register/ pay to use My Dental Key;
  • log in with social networking credentials;
  • use My Dental Key;
  • communicate with us

We also collect information, such as anonymous usage statistics, by using cookies, server logs, and other similar technology as you use My Dental Key.

Personal Information Collection.​ You must register to use My Dental Key. To register, you may need to provide Personal Information, such as your name, email address, gender, and social network log-in credentials. You may also be required to submit payment information. You may also provide other optional information.

Social Sign-On.​ We collect Personal Information from the social media website when you use your social media credentials to log into My Dental Key or connect your My Dental Key account to the social media website account. For example, when you log in with your Facebook credentials, we may collect the Personal Information you have made publicly available in Facebook, such as your name and profile picture. We may also obtain other information with your permission, such as your Birthday, Groups, Institutional Affiliation, Graduation Year, Friend List, and Current City. You may also sign into your social media account to find friends who also use My Dental Key.

Using My Dental Key.​ We collect information you post through My Dental Key. For example, when you interact with other users by posting comments or by updating your account information, My Dental Key will collect the information you provide in such submissions, including any Personal Information.

Location Information from Your Mobile Device.​ We may collect and store your location information if you enable your mobile device to send it to us. Collection of this information may improve the provision of My Dental Key.

Customer Support.​ We may collect Personal Information through your communications with our customer-support team.

Cookies, Automatic Data Collection, and Related Technologies.​ My Dental Key collects and stores information that is generated automatically as you use it, including your preferences and anonymous usage statistics.

When you visit My Dental Key, we and our third-party service providers receive and record information on our server logs from your browser, including your IP address, and from cookies and similar technology. Cookies are small text files placed in visitors’ computer browsers to store their preferences. Most browsers allow you to block and delete cookies. However, if you do that, My Dental Key may not work properly.

By using My Dental Key, you are authorizing us to gather, parse, and retain data related to the provision of My Dental Key. We store your Personal Information for as long as is necessary to provide My Dental Key to you and as long as you have an account on My Dental Key.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use Personal Information:

  • to provide My Dental Key to you and to improve My Dental Key;
  • to operate, improve, and personalize the products and services we offer, and to give
  • each user a more consistent and personalized experience when interacting with us;
  • to provide you with information about products and services that we think may be of interest to you;
  • for customer service, security, to detect fraud or illegal activities, and for archival and
  • backup purposes in connection with the provision of the Services;
  • for research and analysis purposes;
  • to communicate with users; and to enforce our Terms of Use or other applicable policies.

We may use [de-identified] aggregated information for any purpose, including for marketing purposes.

Internal and Service-Related Usage.​ We use information, including Personal Information, for internal and service-related purposes and may provide it to third parties to allow us to facilitate My Dental Key. We may use and retain any data we collect to provide and improve our services.

Marketing.​ In the future, we may use information, including Personal Information, to provide advertising on My Dental Key and to facilitate transmittal of information that may be useful, relevant, valuable or otherwise of interest to you.

Communications.​ We may send email to the email address you provide to us to verify your account and for informational and operational purposes, such as account management, customer service, or system maintenance. We may also send email and text messages to you when you choose to receive My Dental Key Content (as defined in the Terms of Use) in this format.

Aggregate Data.​ We may anonymize and aggregate data collected through My Dental Key and use it for any purpose, including for educational research and development and marketing purposes.

WE MAY DISCLOSE YOUR INFORMATION

We may share your information:

  • with our third-party service providers as necessary for the provision of My Dental Key;
  • to comply with legal obligations;
  • to protect and defend our rights and property; and
  • with your permission.

We do not rent, sell, or share Personal Information about you with other people or non affiliated companies for their direct marketing purposes, unless we have your permission.

We Use Vendors and Service Providers.​ We may share any information we receive with vendors and service providers retained in connection with the provision of My Dental Key.

Displaying to Other Users.​ The content you post to My Dental Key may be displayed on My Dental Key. Other users of My Dental Key, including My Dental Key-approved research and educational institutions, may be able to see some information about you, such as your name, information in the comments you post, and aggregate information about your question responses. We may provide you with privacy settings to control where Personal Information is displayed on My Dental Key. We are not responsible for privacy practices of the other users who will view and use the posted information.

Social Networking and Other Websites.​ My Dental Key may allow you to share information, including Personal Information, with social networking websites, such as Facebook. We do not share your Personal Information with them unless you direct My Dental Key to share it. Their use of the information will be governed by their privacy policies, and you may be able to modify your privacy settings on their websites.

Marketing.​ We do not rent, sell, or share Personal Information about you with other people or non affiliated companies for their direct marketing purposes, unless we have your permission.

As Required By Law and Similar Disclosures.​ We may access, preserve, and disclose your Personal Information, other account information, and content if we believe doing so is required or appropriate to: comply with law enforcement requests and legal process, such as a court order or subpoena; respond to your requests; or protect yours’, ours’ or others’ rights, property, or safety.

Merger, Sale, or Other Asset Transfers.​ If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of My Dental Key assets, or transition of service to another provider, your information may be sold or transferred as part of such a transaction as permitted by law and/or contract. We cannot control how such entities may use or disclose such information.

We may also disclose your Personal Information with your permission.

Within a reasonable time after you terminate your account, your Personal Information will be deleted and will no longer be stored by My Dental Key. My Dental Key may continue to use aggregated information from your account in the manner described in this policy and in the Terms even after your account has been canceled.

SECURITY OF YOUR INFORMATION

We take steps designed to secure your information from unauthorized access or use. Unfortunately, the Internet cannot be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you provide to us. We do not accept liability for unintentional disclosure.

By using My Dental Key or providing Personal Information to us, you agree that we may communicate with you electronically regarding security, privacy, and administrative issues relating to your use of My Dental Key.

CHANGING THE USE OF INFORMATION

We provide many choices about the collection, use and sharing of your data, from deleting or correcting data you include in your profile and controlling the visibility of your posts to advertising opt-outs and communication controls. We offer you settings to control and manage the personal data we have about you.

For personal data that we have about you, you can:

  • Delete Data: You can ask us to erase or delete all or some of your personal data (e.g., if it is no longer necessary to provide Services to you).
  • Change or Correct Data: You can edit your personal data through your account. You can also ask us to change, update or fix your data in certain cases, particularly if it’s inaccurate.
  • Object to, or Limit or Restrict, Use of Data: You can ask us to stop using all or some of your personal data (e.g., if we have no legal right to keep using it) or to limit our use of it (e.g., if your personal data is inaccurate or unlawfully held).
  • Right to Access and/or Take Your Data: You can ask us for a copy of your personal data and can ask for a copy of personal data you provided in machine readable form.

SPECIAL NOTICE TO CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS

Under California Law SB 27, California residents have the right to receive, once a year, information about third parties with whom we have shared information about you or your family for their marketing purposes during the previous calendar year, and a description of the categories of personal information shared. To make such a request, please send an email to m​ydentalkey@gmail.com​ ​and please include the phrase “California Privacy Request” in the subject line, and provide us with your name. address and email address. We will respond to you within-thirty days of receiving such a request.

GOVERNING LAW

By choosing to visit My Dental Key or otherwise provide information to us, you agree that any dispute over privacy or the terms contained in this Privacy Policy will be governed by the law of the State of Delaware, United States of America and the adjudication of any disputes arising in connection with My Dental Key will be in accordance with the Terms of Use.

INTERNATIONAL USERS

By using My Dental Key, you will transfer data to the United States.

CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY AND PRACTICES

We may revise this Privacy Policy, so review it periodically.

Posting of Revised Privacy Policy.​ We will post any adjustments to the Privacy Policy on this web page, and the revised version will be effective when it is posted. If you are concerned about how your information is used, bookmark this page and read this Privacy Policy periodically.

New Uses of Personal Information.​ From time to time, we may desire to use Personal Information for uses not previously disclosed in our Privacy Policy. If our practices change regarding previously collected Personal Information in a way that would be materially less restrictive than stated in the version of this Privacy Policy in effect at the time we collected the information, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice and obtain consent to any such uses as may be required by law.

DO NOT TRACK

My Dental Key does not support Do Not Track at this time. Do Not Track is a privacy preference that you can set in your web browser to indicate that you do not want certain information about your webpage visits collected across websites when you have not interacted with that service on the page. MISCELLANEOUS

Log In Issues.​ In the event that you forget your username/password or are unable to log in, please email us at mydentalkey@gmail.com​.

Product Notifications.​ In the event that we need to send out a product notification, e.g. an app recall or another issue, we will notify you via our mailing list. You may also contact us at mydentalkey@gmail.com​ to learn more or for any reason.

Children.​ No part of My Dental Key is directed to persons under the age of 16. IF YOU ARE UNDER 16 YEARS OF AGE, PLEASE DO NOT USE OR ACCESS OSMOSIS AT ANY TIME OR IN ANY MANNER. In the event that we learn any information from a child 16 years of age or under is knowingly or unknowingly uploaded to My Dental Key, we will delete this information.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR EU RESIDENTS

If you are a User who purchases and uses My Dental Key directly, we serve as the “controller” of the personal data you provide to us. If you are a User who has been provided access to My Dental Key through one of our University Customers, we process your personal data on behalf of our University Customers to fulfill our contractual obligations to them, in which case we serve as a “processor” of your personal data and the University Customer providing you access to My Dental Key acts as the “controller.”

If you are using My Dental Key from the European Union, we will only transfer your Personal Information to the United States through the use of appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission or with your consent. If the transfer of your Personal Information or processing of your Personal Information is based on your consent, you may contact us at m​ydentalkey@gmail.com to withdraw your consent. If you withdraw your consent we will not be able to provide you with access to My Dental Key.

We process personal data as necessary to pursue our legitimate interest of providing My Dental Key to both Users and University Customers and to fulfill our contractual obligations. You have the right to access your personal data, correct inaccuracies in your personal data, request the erasure of your personal data and restrict the processing of your personal data. For more information about how you can access, rectify and erase your personal data, please see the Section of this Privacy Policy entitled, “Your Rights Over Your Information and Questions or Suggestions” above. In addition, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory data protection authority.
